'Bots on the Move

The Employment Brand Team has extended our Bots on the Move initiative to October 9! Whether you're just stretching from a day of sitting, taking your pets for a walk or getting in a fitness class - make sure you log your minutes here! And here are three other things you should know: 1. Have you voted for a fat bear yet? Look, there's a lot of stuff to get down about recently - but it is Fat Bear Week and you should take a minute to go vote for your favorite obese urisdae. Welcome to Fat Bear Week 2020! Katmai National Park and Preserve’s brown bears spent the summer gorging on 4,500-calorie salmon, and they've transformed into rotund giants, some over 1,000 pounds. The park is holding its annual playoff-like competition for the fattest of the fat bears (you can vote online between Sept. 30 and Oct. 6). Mashable 2. The Mega App is coming. Facebook recently debuted its Accounts Center, which may seem like no big deal but represents a huge step in the social media giant merging all its platforms into a single app. If you thought deleting your Facebook account would finally free you from your great uncle’s updates, we have terrible news: Facebook is linking DMs on its platform to DMs on Instagram. That means someone can use a Facebook account to message you on Instagram even if you don’t have Facebook, and vice versa. It’s part of a company effort called “interop:” Facebook wants to tie together the suite of social apps it owns --, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram -- into one big, happy family. The Hustle 3. Payment in the palm of your hand. Literally. Amazon debuted Amazon One - a way to check out with your hand. At first use, a customer will scan their palm and enter their credit card information, allowing them to just use their palm to pay from then on out. At launch, Amazon One is only available at two cashierless Amazon convenience stores in the Seattle area. But Amazon hinted that more are on the way. Expansion will start with Amazon-owned stores; Amazon said it’ll eventually sell the tech to third party retailers. Retail Brew
