The Last One of 2019

The Skinny will be taking a break until January 9. Everyone enjoy their upcoming trips and family time, and stay safe!

A big thank you to everyone who collected toys for the Boys and Girls Club this year! We know this will really make a big impact and appreciate all of you :).

Check out this ADORABLE video Erika Brookes sent my way that I think, especially during the holidays, you will all appreciate!

Additionally, Christina Roughton sent over a pretty sweet initiative Lego is doing that benefits Teach for America and Boys & Girls Club of Boston. Give your Legos a new home!

Also, here are three important things to know:

1. Baby Yoda is the next get-rich-quick scheme. If you're looking to make a quick buck, you better get on the Baby Yoda merchandising train, which has sold almost $2 million since the little green baby has graced us with its presence. Of course, Disney has made none of that money - it's all Baby Yoda poachers. "According to the product research tool Jungle Scout, there have been more than 500k unique searches for “Baby Yoda” on Amazon in the last 30 days -- a 40,874% increase over the previous 30-day period. There’s just one problem: To avoid spoilers, Disney purportedly decided to hold off on selling much of its officially licensed Baby Yoda merchandise until 2020." The Hustle

2. If you were worried about Amazon listening to you through Alexa, don't worry - it's probable that Google and Apple will also be able to listen to you through Alexa also. Or maybe they won't, but who knows what will shakeout of their cooperative efforts to simplify home-device connectivity for the masses. "Google, Amazon and Apple (plus others) have created Connected Home Over IP, a new working group managed by the Zigbee Alliance, which aims to develop a new, open smart home connectivity standard based on Internet Protocol (IP). For consumers, this will mean that stuff just works together, but it'll be a boon for developers, too, as a universal standard streamlines product development and reduces costs by giving them a blueprint for their products." Engadget
