Just a reminder to please, please either donate a gift or contribute (you can venmo Amanda) monetarily to the Boys and Girls Club. For a lot of these kids, these may be the only gifts they receive this year so please take a moment to give if you're able to. And here are three other things you should know: 1. Salesforce and Slack are looking to merge. With Microsoft slowly moving into the CRM space, Salesforce is making a big push to remain competitive by adding workspace collaboration to its features. The core of Salesforce’s business is right in its stock ticker, $CRM: customer relationship management. Marc Benioff -- who founded the company in 1999 -- has built a $225B software beast in this niche. Benioff has been eyeing workplace collaboration for more than a decade ... Meanwhile, Microsoft is creeping into the CRM space with its Dynamics product. And although Salesforce has much greater market share (~20% to ~3%), the threat is all too real. The Hustle 2. Shipping capacity has been reached. Online shopping has always been on the rise, but the pandemic plus the holiday season has pushed shipping companies to the limits - with some even putting limitations on huge retailers. Having reached allotted capacity, UPS told its drivers to stop picking up packages at six major retailers, including Nike and Gap, to maintain performance standards ... Amazon is even offering a rebate (we’ve seen $2–$3) for some of the company’s digital products if you select the “No-Rush Shipping” option, presumably so it can reduce the strain on its own fulfillment network. Retail Brew 3. Jam fans support the Georgia jam fam. That's a mouthful, but recently the AJC ran a great story on Emily G's, a family owned jam retailer out of Statesboro. Almost a decade ago, [Jennifer Burns] and her husband Tom bid on a year’s worth of Emily G’s jams at a silent auction benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. They loved the product, and, when Burns learned that Emily G’s was considering closing down production, the Burnses bought the company. It’s the entire family’s passion. Tom’s unofficial title is “chief tasting officer,” and the couple’s four daughters — Kristina, Gabrielle, Jessica and Amy — work alongside their parents, handling social media, assisting with sales and promotion, creating new jam recipes, and figuring out nontraditional ways to use their products.
